This is a rare penny but a 1827 penny found by a metal detector will have been in the ground for almost 200 years. Coins are also valued on their condition and copper coins are rarely in good condition.

Yes i agree but it seems that nearly the entire mintage of the 1827 English penny ended up in Tasmania so its a true early Tasmanian coinage
