Brains Trust please

Hi all,
Wondering if the resident brains trust can help?
Recent find from late 1800’s house site included a fancy button (1st pic)
I am thinking military, with the “VR” possibly meaning “Victoria Reign/Regent” or “Volunteer Rifles” eg (2nd pic)
Anyone else found one of these?
cheers
Andrew

That’s a beauty button, not sure exactly what it is, but VR generally stood for Victoria Regina, and was used on many uniforms, both military and government departments.

That’s the closest I could find, Queensland Native Police!

No brains trust here Andrew but that’s a ripper button ! The feathery look of the letters is very distinctive , and very different from any other VR buttons i have seen . Great find , i would hammer that site to death !

Thanks guys,
Really appreciate the feedback :slightly_smiling_face:
Fascinating the number of versions of the button that were made. All with subtle differences, presumably different manufacturers, different batches.
The feathery/leafy detail on this one is nice.
The search continues!
Cheers
Andrew
