Hi, can the brains trust help ID this item? It is “pocket sized”, had a spring, a threaded section and a pressed metal top with carry loop and nice image of 3 funnel ocean liner with “trade mark registered” I’m thinking possibly a small lantern

Original thought is a patent enclosure for a jar or a bottle but not sure
This is the end of a 50s torch i found a while back, looks pretty similar.
