Not sure Indi,
I have made my own picks in the past, and bought another in WA.
You could try the outdoors shop in Burnie: I’ve heard they are good for prospecting gear

Simon Kernon has just finished his first test run of his rather radical pick design. Uses an extra hardened steel spike for the pointy end, held in with an allen screw, so it is easily replaced if it wears out. The body is laser cut from high grade steel, way stronger than anything cut from a truck leaf spring. Each has a serial number too, so it can be tracked.
You would need to get in touch with Simon for availability etc
Made in Tassie!
Anyone who has tried his original pick this is based on seemed to like it a lot.

That thing looks like it would be tougher than old nails!! Any idea what they sell for?

I can attest that it is one mighty tough item. When the spike hits bedrock it is a ‘dead’ impact with none of the springback and ringing you get from a traditional pick.

They are not cheap .
