Raider Update:
After playing tourist for a week in Vic we headed off north to the dry wastes of Broken Hill and Corner Country NSW.
For fossickers and mineral collectors, Broken Hill is amecca of sorts: some wicked minerals come or of the mines and area generally.
I highly recommend the Geo Centre and the Mineral shop in Argent St (yes, all the streets are named after minerals 
)
~4hrs Nth is Tibooburra: funny little town with nice pubs and a reputation for gold.
Well, we battled windstorms on beautiful Gumvale Station and managed to snag a couple of bits to open the account!
Anyway, we are heading south now to start more serious detecting in the ‘Triangle’
Aaaaarrr!

Raiders Return
Well, all good things must come to an end it seems, so now back home to the green island under down under.
We spent the final stage chasing the yellow amongst the goldfields along the western edge of the GT.
Alluvial diggings, reefs, deep leads, hard rock shows in abundance, unlike the heavy yellow metal which proved to be a challenge.
The gentle terrain, open bush and good access via tracks to every digging means that they have been heavily detected 
We managed to scare up a few grams between the SDC2300 and the GPX4500, with the SDC marginally ahead but also finding all the birdshot 
I would suggest future raiders do plenty of research, get good maps and target areas away from the diggings.
If you can get access to private property, then that would be advantageous.
All said, the Vic bush is thriving after good rains and a pleasure to camp in.
but Vic sealed roads are full of potholes 
and are shiiiite
